Hi — I am Matt, the editor behind RenterReset. This page is the straight version of who writes here, what the site is for, and what you should (and should not) expect from the guides.
What RenterReset is
RenterReset is a practical guide to deposit-safe, no-drill organization for small rental kitchens. The focus is US, UK, Canada, and Australia renters who need systems that fit real cabinets, real pipes, and real leases — then move out without sticky residue arguments.
Most organizing advice assumes you own the walls. You can drill. You can paint. You can commit to built-ins. Renters usually cannot. A lost deposit is a real cost, so every recommendation here is filtered through measure-first fit, lease safety, and move-out readiness.
How I write
Guides are written in a clear first-person editorial voice so the advice stays concrete: what to measure, what to skip, and which tradeoffs matter in a shallow cupboard or a shared kitchen. I research product dimensions, materials, and common failure modes from manufacturer specs, retailer listings, and renter discussions. Reader corrections are welcome — email helps the site stay honest.
I do not invent lab credentials, professional organizing certifications, or multi-week “hands-on test” claims that did not happen. When a pick is research-based rather than personally lived-with for months, the methodology page says so. That honesty matters more than sounding impressive.
What shapes the picks
- Measure first — width, depth, height, and clearance beat glossy photos.
- Deposit safety — prefer freestanding, tension, or carefully limited adhesive over screws into landlord property.
- Move-out readiness — can you take it with you, and will the surface look acceptable afterward?
- Small-kitchen fit — studios, galleys, and pipe-crowded under-sink cabinets are the default constraint, not an afterthought.
For the full filter list, Amazon link style notes, and what we deliberately skip, read How we pick products.
How the site is supported
RenterReset is affiliate-supported. Some links may earn a commission if you buy — at no extra cost to you. That does not buy a recommendation. Editorial standards and disclosures live on the Affiliate Disclosure and Privacy Policy pages. The site overview is on About.
